Care Services Manager - Halifax

Functional Description:
The Care Services Manager is a key member of the Shift team. Reporting to the Director of Care
and working as part of the collaborative management team, you have shared contributing
responsibilities toward both the outcomes and actions on the ground in the programs we
operate. Individually, you are very familiar on relational practice approaches, trauma informed
care and the delivery of therapeutic programming and services. You are experienced in staff
training and professional development, staff supervision and documentation.
Task Responsibilities
As part of the management team, you will collaboratively oversee relevant aspects of
operations within multiple complex care facilities across Canada. This includes:
Practice and Approach
● Ensure continuity between aspirational and theoretical tenets of relational practice
approaches and day to day actions in centres.
● Provide feedback on critical incidents from a best practice perspective of care delivery.
● Maintain ongoing awareness of trends and emergent changes to relational practice and
trauma informed approaches in adolescent care.
Programming and Content
● Support and oversee quarterly planning process and subsequent program
implementation of engaging, responsive, and intentional programming

● Maintain program supplies in advance on site.
● Ensure implementations of therapeutic programming that meets and exceeds proposal
tenets and standards including in-house, daily living, on-the-land, cultural and
therapeutic programming
Documentation
● Ensure high degree of standard in program documentation
● Ensure regulatory timelines are met relating to submissions
● Coordinate and submit reports as per obligations
● Support writing of all monthly progress reports
● Manage and maintain files and users and monitor activity.
Training and Professional Development
● Support delivery of staff training and professional development.
● Provide critical incident debriefing as needed.
Core Leadership
● Role model high level interpersonal & communication skills.
● Occasional travel to program sites as needed
● Participate in on boarding and staff training initiatives
● Participate in individual and team strategic planning and lead efforts to meet quarterly
and monthly goals.
Skills & Abilities
The following skills and abilities have been identified as critical to the success of this position.
● A diploma or degree in a social services or human relations field or equivalent.
● A minimum of three years of experience in social services or child welfare in a
supervisor or leadership role.
● An energetic self-starter who can work successfully within a team, but also doesn’t shy
away from the opportunity to work independently.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
● High level of organization and time management skills
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and Microsoft Windows software.
● Ability to research information and produce documents with strong attention to details.
● Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.

Employment Specifics
● Permanent full-time position
● Rotational On-Call Support required
● 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Thursday in office, Friday work from home
● The successful candidate will be expected to provide a clear vulnerable sector search
and child abuse registry check
