About the Position

As a key member of the care team, the LPN is responsible for planning nursing care as required by unique client needs while adhering to recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards. While not a comprehensive list, primary duties will include:

  • Utilize nursing knowledge and skills to implement basic preventative therapeutic rehabilitative nursing care for the clients
  • Perform tasks related to patient care and the patient's environment in a safe manner
  • Maintain and coordinate communication between client, family, staff, and other health care professionals
  • Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the nursing care administered relative to the client
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans
  • Collect and maintain client records; document pertinent observations and interventions on appropriate records
  • Administer medication accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record
  • Assist with clients’ daily care and hygiene routine, including bathing
  • Report client needs or possible changes regarding client’s condition to the Manager

Your Skills & Abilities

  • An energetic self-starter who can work successfully within a team, but also doesn’t shy away from the opportunity to work independently
  • The ability to ensure client confidentiality and maintain a non-judgmental approach
  • Knowledge of Inuvailuit and Gwich’in culture is an asset
  • An understanding of the intergenerational and gendered impacts of residential schooling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of organization and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows software

Your Qualifications

  • Graduation of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Recognized Pharmacology course and experience in the administration of medicines.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in a continuing care, hospital, long-term care, or similar environment.
  • Successful candidates are responsible for providing a clear criminal record check, vulnerable sector screening, up to date immunization record including proof of full Covid-19 vaccination, as well as clear tuberculosis skin test.
