New Brunswick Child and Youth Care Practitioner (35$/hour + Meal stipend – Travel Staffing Relief Pool) - Halifax

Are you passionate about working with youth? We are seeking experienced Child and Youth Care professionals to work as relief independent contractors for various fly-in / fly-out opportunities in New Brunswick (Staffing relief pool)

Contract length can vary but typically up to 8 weeks

Salary: $35/ hour plus meal stipend

Hotel accommodations and travel to and from site are included

Primary Duties

• Apply intervention plans for clients
• Provide positive reinforcement for client behavior.
• Organize and coordinate activities for the client
• Observe, analyze, and record client behaviors.
• Attend and participate in team meetings.
• Comply with safety and prevention measures.
• Supervise clients inside and outside the home, including during any outings the clients attend.
• Implementing emergency protocols, crisis interventions and non-violent physical interventions as needed.
• Teach life skills to client
• Work collaboratively with other child and youth worker colleagues to provide best possible care for youth

Your Qualifications & Skills

• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth within a similar environment.
• Post-secondary education in child and youth care or special care counselling, or a bachelor’s degree in psychoeducation, psychology, criminology, social work, or another relevant degree or diploma.
• Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
• English fluency is required
• Able to adapt and work well with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Sensitive and understanding of the needs of others.
• Mature with a strong positive attitude.
• Able to collaborate well within a team.
• Ability to work independently; a self-starter.
• Resilience, independence, and confidence.
• Working understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Successful candidates are responsible for providing a recent clear criminal reference check, vulnerable sector screening, and a clear driver’s abstract.
